Domenico Pozzovivo, at 43, makes a stunning return from retirement, signing with Solution Tech-Nippo-Rali. This unexpected move could shake up the cycling scene as he’s set to debut at the Tour of the Alps on April 20.
Pozzovivo last raced in 2024, finishing 38th at Il Lombardia, but now aims to showcase his experience and competitiveness. Team manager Serge Parsani expresses excitement, noting Pozzovivo’s "clarity and strong condition." This signing makes him the oldest rider in the top two levels of the pro peloton, surpassing 39-year-old Bauke Mollema.
Despite his absence, Pozzovivo has kept busy, earning a Master's degree in sports science and coaching race walker Alex Schwazer. He emphasizes that his life has been full, stating he doesn't regret his previous retirement. With his return, the cycling world is eager to see what he brings to the team.
