Ethan Vernon of NSN Pro Cycling claims his third victory of the season, winning Stage 1 of the Pays de la Loire Tour. This win not only boosts his confidence but also places him at the top of the leaderboard, four seconds ahead of Erlend Blikra.
The 187.5 km stage from Fontevraud-l'Abbaye to Vertou featured a breakaway of seven riders, but Vernon’s powerful sprint on the final lap secured his triumph. Notably, he previously won stages at the Tour Down Under and Volta a Catalunya this year, marking this victory as the 15th of his career. Young Brit Noah Hobbs from EF Education-EasyPost rounds out the podium, finishing in third. The stage showcased a flat profile, with minimal climbing challenges, setting the tone for a competitive tour ahead.
