Florian Lipowitz secures second place at the Tour de Romandie, showcasing his rise as a top contender. This performance signals a significant boost ahead of the Tour de France.
Lipowitz, riding for Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe, consistently proves himself as the best of the rest, finishing just 42 seconds behind the dominant Tadej Pogačar of UAE Emirates-XRG. Over six intense days, Lipowitz notches three runner-up stage finishes, clearly demonstrating his competitive edge.
In the final stage, Lipowitz makes a daring move in the last five kilometers, keeping pace with Pogačar, who ultimately pulls away for the win. Despite the loss, Lipowitz expresses pride in his performance and the support from his team. “I felt really good throughout the stage,” he states.
This podium finish marks Lipowitz's third overall in a tour this season, following a third-place finish at the Tour de France last year. With the Tour de France approaching in July, Lipowitz is optimistic, saying, “I think I’ve stepped up from last year.” As he prepares to race alongside Remco Evenepoel, Lipowitz's trajectory suggests he could be a serious threat this summer.
