Jon Barrenetxea (Movistar) dominates the uphill finish at Boucles de l'Aulne - Châteaulin, leaving Clément Venturini (Unibet Rose Rockets) in his wake. Here’s why this victory could reshape the competitive landscape as the season unfolds.

The race unfolded over 177.8 kilometers, featuring challenging finishing circuits in the final 33 kilometers. Lander Loockx from Unibet Rose Rockets played a key role, driving the pace on the climb for Venturini. However, Barrenetxea stayed right with them, joined by Maxime Vezie (CIC Pro Cycling Academy) and David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ United). With 250 meters to go, the sprint ignited as Venturini surged ahead, but Barrenetxea surged wider and faster, clinching victory at the line.

This win marks Barrenetxea's second in as many days, following his triumph at the Tour du Finistère in Quimper. Venturini improves to second place, while Vezie secures third ahead of Loockx. Gaudu finishes in fifth, three seconds behind.

The ninth round of the FDJ United Series sees Venturini maintain a 90-point lead over Barrenetxea, who has now leapfrogged USA's Matthew Riccitello (Decathlon CMA CGM) in the standings. The numbers tell a bigger story as the stakes rise in the series.
