Lorena Wiebes returns to the lineup for the Ronde van Brugge on short notice, ready to defend her title for SD Worx-Protime. The Dutch Champion steps in after Marie Schreiber is ruled out due to an Achilles tendon injury. Schreiber, the reigning Luxembourg champion, targets the Scheldeprijs Women on April 8 for her road season debut.
Wiebes, eager to compete, aims to add another victory to her impressive resume after winning the event twice before when it was known as Classic Brugge-De Panne. Last year, she clinched the title with a powerful sprint in the final 200 meters.
This year's race features a revised course, starting and finishing inland in Bruges, eliminating the coastal stretch. Cobblestones and exposed roads promise challenges, with rain and wind expected on race day.
