Lorena Wiebes claims the first pink jersey of the 2026 Giro d'Italia Women after a decisive victory in stage 1 at Ravenna. This win not only establishes her as the early leader but also highlights her sprinting prowess.
Wiebes, riding for SD Worx-Protime, outpaced Elisa Balsamo of Lidl-Trek and Lara Gillespie from UAE Team ADQ to secure a crucial 10-second time bonus. With this victory, she takes a commanding lead in the general classification. Balsamo follows in second place, four seconds behind, thanks to a six-second bonus, while Gillespie sits in third at six seconds back.
Further down the standings, Chiara Consonni from Canyon-SRAM is fourth, trailing Wiebes by 10 seconds, with Georgia Baker of Liv Alula Jayco in fifth and Charlotte Kool from Fenix-Premier Tech in sixth.
