Matej Mohorič co-leads Bahrain Victorious at the Strade Bianche, anticipating a different race dynamic due to reduced gravel sections. After a chaotic Opening Weekend, Mohorič acknowledges Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) as the favorite but believes the softer course in Tuscany allows for greater competition. Mohorič recently finished eighth in the Clásica Jaén, showcasing his potential. Teammate Pello Bilbao, a former gravel World Champion and top-five finisher in Italy, joins him in the lineup. Attila Valter, with top-10 finishes in Siena and a mountain biking background, adds depth to the squad. Mohorič expects Pogačar to push early, but the changes may keep more riders in contention until the finish. “There will be less room for heroics,” he says, hinting at a more competitive race ahead.
