Heavy snowfall forces a major change in Paris-Nice. Organisers shorten stage 7 by 18km, now set at 120.4km. The finish line shifts from the mountaintop at Auron to Isola for rider safety.
Weather conditions in Alpes-Maritimes make reaching Auron impossible, with the rain-snow line at 1,100 metres. The decision comes after consultations with city officials, the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture, and cycling representatives.
The original route from Nice included two climbs: Côte de Carros at 14.8km and Côte de Bouyon at 24km. The final ascent to Auron, a challenging 7.3km climb averaging 7.2%, is removed. The new finish line at Isola will occur at the previously scheduled intermediate sprint. Cyclists adapt to these harsh conditions, prioritising safety above all.
