Unbound Gravel's 2026 route promises a thrilling blend of southern and northern terrain, featuring potentially muddy sections that could challenge even the most seasoned riders. Here’s why this new course configuration could redefine strategies for the upcoming races.

Set for May 30, the signature Unbound 200 race covers 206 miles (331 km) with over 9,000 feet (2,743 m) of climbing. This year, racers will venture south from Emporia, a shift from the previous two editions that primarily headed north into the Flint Hills of Kansas. The course's opening segment recalls the infamous peanut butter mud of 2023, ensuring that conditions remain unpredictable.

Riders face an early challenge at Yy road, where the notorious 'Towers climb' awaits, complete with chunky gravel and potential creek crossings. At 60 miles in, Texaco Hill introduces a grueling climb with sustained 2-5% grades, followed by a tricky descent requiring keen focus.

A fresh section on W road promises an adventurous mix of rocky terrain and creek crossings, enhancing the course's challenge. The race then navigates familiar areas near Matfield Green and Council Grove, culminating in a complex route that tests both endurance and technical skills.
