Denny Hamlin bounces back from a spin to secure the pole for the NASCAR All-Star Race at Dover Motor Speedway. This performance showcases his resilience and sets the stage for an exciting race.
Hamlin, driving the No. 11 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing, spun out on his warmup lap but recovered impressively, clocking a two-lap time of 1 minute, 49.298 seconds, which included a crucial four-tire pit stop. “I was just trying to get as much heat in the tires as I possibly could,” Hamlin explained, acknowledging the slick conditions. Despite the early setback, his competitive lap highlights the team's ability to adapt.
Brad Keselowski qualified second, followed by Erik Jones, Ross Chastain, and William Byron. Several drivers faced challenges during their qualifying attempts, with Connor Zilisch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. also spinning. Zane Smith, Michael McDowell, and Kyle Larson incurred 10-second penalties for speeding. Meanwhile, Daniel Suarez’s No. 7 Chevrolet hit the wall due to a tire failure.
Hamlin, who previously won the All-Star Race in 2015 from pole position, aims to leverage his starting spot. The race will consist of two 75-lap stages followed by a 200-lap finale, featuring 26 cars. Smith’s team, despite qualifying 25th, secured the first pit stall and a $100,000 bonus for the fastest pit stop
