Shane van Gisbergen celebrates his 37th birthday with a stunning victory at Watkins Glen International, marking his second consecutive win in the NASCAR Cup Series. This triumph showcases why he’s a serious contender for the Chase.

Van Gisbergen, driving for Trackhouse Racing, proves age is just a number as he delivers one of the best performances of his career. After losing the lead with 24 laps to go, he rebounds impressively, gaining 23 positions and nearly 30 seconds in just 17 laps. This victory, his seventh in the Cup Series, ties him with Chase Elliott for the most road and street-course wins among active drivers.

Trackhouse Racing founder Justin Marks praises van Gisbergen, stating he’s reached a level of performance never before seen in NASCAR on road courses. However, the challenge now shifts to mastering the ovals that dominate the Cup circuit. With this win, van Gisbergen climbs into the 16th provisional spot for the Chase, just six points ahead of Chase Briscoe.

As the playoffs approach, van Gisbergen emphasizes the need to earn his place through consistent finishes. Trackhouse Racing is also focused on improving, as teammates Ross Chastain and Connor Zilisch currently sit outside the Chase positions. The team is determined to enhance performance in the coming races.
