Derbyshire Blue claims a decisive victory at the NSSA Double Handed Team Racing Championships held at Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club on March 21-22, 2026. The event features 116 sailors across 29 teams from 15 organizations, racing in Fireflys and Fevas. Hosted by North East & Yorkshire Youth Sailing Association, the competition benefits from generous support, with boats loaned by local universities and clubs.
Despite a late start due to calm winds, racing kicks off at 11 am, showcasing fierce competition and camaraderie among participants. Event Director Fiona Spence leads a team with 60% female representation in key roles. Volunteers play a crucial role, with eight umpires on the water, including a newly qualified U18 umpire. The atmosphere buzzes with excitement as sailors enjoy the stunning scenery and social connections, making the weekend a memorable celebration of youth sailing.
