A fleet of 50 double-handed yachts from seven nations kicks off the 4th ORC Double-Handed European Championship 2026 in Altea. Running from March 1-7, this event coincides with the historic 40th anniversary of the 200 Millas A2 offshore race.
Top competitors include Spain’s Iñaki Castañer (CASTAÑER YACHTS - DK 46), boasting 10 world titles and 12 Atlantic crossings. Dutch skipper Peter de Ridder (CHECKMATE - Bashford 41) brings silver medal experience from the 2014 ORC World Championship. Kiko Moret (HYBRID - First 30) enters as the most successful sailor in 200 Millas A2 history with five overall victories. Defending champions Martin Buck and Yves de Block sail aboard MIA GIOIA (Neo 430 Roma), ready for a fierce title defense. Veteran Jesús de Miguel competes with Jose Gutierrez on X-332 O'MARY LOU, aiming for another win. Local favorites José Ballester and Andrés Manresa (FALAPOUCO - Dufour 40 DK) add to the competitive mix.
