The Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team teams up with OutSeed and the 1851 Trust to launch a national competition for schools to win an innovative outdoor education hub. This initiative promises to revolutionize STEM and climate education in the UK.

The OutSeed Hub is a refurbished 20ft shipping container transformed into a solar-powered learning space, utilizing surplus solar panels from Emirates GBR's off-grid installations at SailGP events. The hub will feature a living wall, biodiversity sensors, and a live dashboard monitoring vital environmental data like air quality and pollinator activity, enabling students to engage in real scientific inquiry.

Research by OutSeed shows a strong demand for outdoor learning facilities, emphasizing their role in enhancing children’s physical and cognitive development. The competition is open to all educational providers, including state schools and community education centers, encouraging them to submit proposals by June 25, 2026.

Sir Ben Ainslie, CEO of Emirates GBR, highlights the initiative's potential to leave a lasting legacy in practical STEM education. The long-term goal is to establish a network of OutSeed Hubs across the UK, acting as live biodiversity data points, and fostering a deeper understanding of clean energy and environmental stewardship among the youth.
