American sailor Erica Lush is set to make history as she embarks on her second Solitaire du Figaro Paprec in under a year, beginning May 17, 2026. If she finishes, she will be the first American, male or female, to complete two Solitaires.
This regatta series is notorious for its demanding conditions and elite competition, and Lush's return marks a significant step in her quest to revive American offshore sailing. Last September, she became only the third American and the second American woman to finish the grueling race.
Lush exudes confidence. "I’m no longer a rookie," she states, emphasizing her growth and readiness to face the challenge alone. This year, she sails a new Beneteau Figaro 3, named Hope, continuing her journey with support from renowned sailor Samantha Davies, who loaned her the boat.
With the 2026 Solitaire occurring less than seven months after her last event, Lush's schedule is packed. She recently completed the Solo Guy Cotten and faced challenges in the Trophée Banque Populaire Grand Ouest.
Each regatta strengthens her resolve to establish the U.S. as a key player in offshore sailing. This season could redefine her legacy.
