Staunton Harold Sailing Club hosts the third event of the East Midlands Mini Series over the weekend. Sailors from Notts County, Burton, and Ogston Sailing Clubs compete, with Ogston bringing ten boats. Saturday's races face light winds but eventually get underway. In Race 1, Martin Honnor (Ogston) and MJ Gifford (Staunton Harold) dominate, with Russ and James Short finishing strong. Race 2 sees the Shorts and Honnor battle for the top spots, while Chris Fry and son Leo secure third. On Sunday, 14-15 knot winds challenge competitors, and Chris Martin and John Tailby shine in their Scorpion, winning two races. Craig Williamson grabs second, while Pete Goodyear and Alastair Lucas take third. Honnor's consistent performance earns him overall victory with a race to spare. Nathan Smith rebounds with a third in the final race. The series concludes at Burton Sailing Club on March 7-8.
