The Dragon fleet dominates the 2026 Cowes Classics Regatta, showcasing their prowess with an impressive performance across six races. Here’s why this victory could redefine the season for the Dragons and their competitors.

Over the four-day event, the Dragon class emerged as the largest fleet, facing challenging conditions on the opening day. Under a strong southerly breeze, GBR753 Fit Chick, helmed by Jono Brown, delivered a stunning performance, sweeping all three races on Friday. Teams like GBR430 Ran also shone, securing their position as the leading classic boat after a grueling day on the water.

Saturday’s racing was abandoned due to severe weather, giving crews a moment to regroup. Come Sunday, conditions improved, but Fit Chick remained unstoppable, clinching three more victories to finish with a perfect six wins. GBR763 Bertie finished second overall, while GBR777 Furious secured third place after an impressive comeback.

In the battle for the Classic Championship, GBR430 Ran excelled, finishing fifth in the regatta and claiming the title of 2026 BDA Classic Dragon Champion. Crispin Blyth, helm of Ran, celebrated the boat's 60th birthday with this remarkable achievement. The regatta wrapped up with a prize-giving at the Royal London Yacht Club, where Fit Chick took home the Dragon class honours and overall victory.
