Lewis Hamilton's Miami Grand Prix turns into a struggle after suffering damage on the very first lap. This incident not only derailed his race but also highlighted the fragility of his promising weekend.
Hamilton describes the moment as a turning point, saying, “I was just a passenger.” As Max Verstappen spun in front of him, Hamilton had to swerve wide, losing vital positions and colliding with Franco Colapinto at Turn 11. The impact cost him significant downforce, transforming his race into a battle for survival rather than a fight for podiums.
He explains, “I lost about half a second of downforce on the car... just driving around for nothing really.” Despite salvaging some points, Hamilton expresses deep frustration with the outcome. He believes the result doesn’t reflect the true potential of the car or the team’s hard work.
Hamilton had felt optimistic heading into the race, noting improvements during qualifying. However, the early damage shattered those hopes. “It’s a shame, because it doesn’t really truly reflect the hard work that the team has done,” he states.
As he looks ahead, Hamilton remains determined to extract more from the upcoming races, hoping for a more favorable turn of events.
