The chaos started at Turn 2 on the opening lap, where Verstappen battled Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. As he pushed for position, he lost grip and spun, only to recover spectacularly by flooring the throttle during the 360-degree rotation. “I thought I was going to crash, so I floored it,” Verstappen explained, showcasing his instinctive decision-making that kept him in the race.
After dropping down the order, Verstappen mounted a comeback with aggressive overtakes and a strategic early pit stop under the safety car. Late in the race, he fought with George Russell and chased down a wounded Leclerc, finishing fifth despite a five-second penalty for crossing the pitlane exit line.
