Verstappen, fresh off a dramatic GT debut, is keen to compete in the Daytona 24 Hours as soon as January 2027. His recent experience in the Nürburgring 24 Hours with Winward Racing saw him battling for victory until a late mechanical failure forced him to finish 38th. Instead of deterring him, this setback has intensified his desire for more endurance racing.
While Verstappen has ruled out additional GT events for this season, he’s already contemplating the logistics of a Daytona entry. He acknowledges that participating would require a significant adjustment to his training schedule, typically focused on F1 preparations in January.
His goal? Compete in the GT3 class rather than the faster GTP prototypes, aligning with his growing passion for production-based vehicles. “It’s an idea at the moment, but not concrete yet,” he states, emphasizing his enthusiasm. If successful, this venture could mark a thrilling new chapter for the four-time F1 champion as he looks to conquer both Formula 1 and endurance racing.
