Max Verstappen hits the track for the Nürburgring 24 Hours Qualifiers on April 18-19. The Formula 1 champ seizes the break in the F1 calendar caused by the withdrawal of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix due to the Iran conflict. He heads to the 25.378km Nordschleife to hone his GT3 skills, tackling two grueling four-hour races.
Verstappen teams up with Lucas Auer in a Mercedes-AMG GT3, marking their first collaboration. The Saturday race offers a chance for Verstappen to experience racing the Nordschleife under the cover of darkness, a significant milestone he aims to conquer before the full 24-hour race at the end of May.
Recently, he logged valuable track time during a private test, enjoying wet conditions and generating buzz online, especially after a stop at the famous Döttinger Höhe fuel station. His take? "Fast on the Nordschleife. Really enjoyed it out there."
With regular co-drivers Jules Gounon and Daniel Juncadella occupied with World Endurance Championship duties in Imola, this partnership with Auer keeps Verstappen sharp. While F1 takes a breather, Verstappen revs up for a wild ride.
