Francesca Clapcich secures fifth place in her first solo IMOCA race aboard 11th Hour Racing after a grueling five-day challenge in the Bay of Biscay. This performance highlights her impressive ability to compete against seasoned sailors.

Clapcich completes the 1000 Race with a time of 5 days, 10 hours, 45 minutes, and 45 seconds, crossing the finish line in Concarneau, Brittany, at 2245 CEST. The race featured a seven-boat fleet that began on May 3 from Port-la-Forêt, navigating a tough 1,200 nautical mile course toward the Fastnet Rock and back.

Reflecting on the intense competition, Clapcich emphasizes the relentless nature of the race, particularly against rivals Elodie Bonafous and Violette Dorange. She notes, "It was just 'fight, fight, fight' all the time." Clapcich aimed to finish without major mistakes, and her meticulous approach paid off, as her boat remained in excellent condition.

Technical Director Pifou Dargnies highlights Clapcich's strategic prowess, showcasing her Olympic experience as she crafted her own race plan. Her successful completion of the 1000 Race qualifies her for the upcoming Vendée Arctique, set to begin on June 7, 2026, marking another significant step in her offshore sailing career.
