Sam Goodchild clinches victory at the 1000 Race, marking his fourth win in the IMOCA Class and his first solo triumph. This result sets the tone for an exciting season ahead.

Goodchild, 36, from Cornwall, dominated the race aboard the MACIF Santé Prévoyance, showcasing his skills over five challenging days. He navigated from Port-la-Forêt, around Fastnet Rock, and through the diverse conditions of the Bay of Biscay, finishing approximately 100 miles ahead of his closest competitor, Corentin Horeau on MACSF.

Celebrating his victory in Concarneau, Goodchild expressed immense pride in his performance, crediting his team at MerConcept and MACIF for their hard work. He emphasized the significance of this win, especially as it was his debut in solo competition aboard a vessel previously helmed by Vendée Globe champion Charlie Dalin.

Goodchild's confidence shines through as he eyes upcoming challenges, including the Vendée Arctique-Les Sables d'Olonne and the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe. With plans for improvements, including new foils for his boat, he's determined to build on this success. His strategic decisions throughout the race left his rivals with little chance, proving he’s a formidable force in the IMOCA Class.
