Francesca Clapcich kicks off her first solo challenge in the 1000 Race today at 1200 CEST. This race is a pivotal moment as she navigates her inaugural solo journey on an IMOCA, covering a 1,200 nautical mile loop from Port-la-Forêt, France. The route takes her past Fastnet Rock and around a waypoint west of Finisterre before crossing the Bay of Biscay, with a finish in Concarneau expected in about five days. Clapcich expresses her excitement, noting, "There are definitely a few butterflies now." Her preparation has been rigorous, training alongside competitors Elodie Bonafus and Violette Dorange while honing her solo skills. With the race underway, all eyes are on Clapcich as she embarks on this significant adventure in her sailing career.
