Toyota anticipates a strong response from Hyundai in the World Rally Championship this season. Team principal Jari-Matti Latvala acknowledges Hyundai's struggles in the opening rounds in Monte Carlo and Sweden but expects them to close the gap. Toyota has dominated, achieving back-to-back podium lockouts and remains the favorite for the upcoming Safari Rally Kenya, where they have not lost since 2021. Hyundai plans further upgrades to its i20 N Rally1, with sporting director Andrew Wheatley confirming changes ahead of the asphalt return in Croatia next month. Last year, Hyundai secured its best finish in Kenya with a double podium, but their past performance raises questions about their current competitiveness. Toyota fields five cars, including championship leader Elfyn Evans and reigning champion Sébastien Ogier. The 20-stage Safari Rally Kenya kicks off Thursday.
