Jimmie Johnson announces his final NASCAR Cup race will be the 2027 Daytona 500. The seven-time champion, with 83 wins in 700 starts, shifts focus to the business side of racing as the majority owner of Legacy Motor Club. Since retiring from full-time Cup racing in 2020 and a two-year stint in INDYCAR, the 50-year-old competes in the Daytona 500 annually, with two victories in 2006 and 2013. Johnson has just two Cup starts scheduled for this year: the Daytona 500 and the June street race at Naval Base Coronado, close to his hometown of El Cajon, California. He reflects on his career, stating he no longer has the same passion for driving. Johnson confirms he won't race in the Cup Series after 2027 and has closed the door on his INDYCAR career, ruling out another Indianapolis 500 appearance.
