WYC hosts the London and SE Topper class, showcasing thrilling competition despite challenging wind conditions. Here’s why this event highlights the resilience and skill of young sailors.

The weekend kicks off with training on Saturday, featuring tailored coaching for various skill levels. Participants enjoy sunny weather and learn to navigate Whitstable's strong tides. However, by afternoon, the wind dies down, prompting a debriefing session.

On Sunday, racing begins promptly with a briefing from PRO Andy Jackson. The light breeze allows the 27-boat fleet to complete the first race, with Joe Barton from WYC clinching victory in the 5.3 fleet, followed by Harry Durrant (Chipstead) and Ralph Hadley (WYC/Tankerton). In the 4.2 fleet, Jacob Grilli (Downs) secures first place, with Szymon Giersz (Island Barn) and Riley Lane-Spollen (Queen Mary) trailing.

Race 2 sees reduced conditions, stymying many 4.2 boats from starting on time. Joe Barton narrowly wins against Lena Tokajuk (Island Barn) in a challenging finish. Race 3 brings a welcomed breeze, enabling a full course. Arthur Peregrene-Jones (Tamesis) wins the 4.2 fleet, while Ralph Hadley dominates the 5.3.

Despite a fourth race cancellation due to light winds, overall winners are crowned: Jacob Grilli (4.2 fleet) and Joe Barton
