Inter Milan is eliminated from the Champions League right at the playoffs. After a 1-3 defeat in the first leg, the Lombard club falls 1-2 in the second leg against Bodö/Glimt. This is a significant event in the history of European football. Inter becomes the third defending finalist not to reach the Round of 16 since this stage was introduced in 2004. Previously, Chelsea and Manchester United faced the same fate. Chelsea, winners in 2012, failed to get past the group stages in 2012-2013, while Manchester United, finalists in 2011, didn't make it out of the group stage in 2012. This setback for Inter comes nine months after their lost final against PSG (0-5). A tough blow for the club that hoped to shine on the European stage.
