The race marks the fourth visit to Lorient for The Ocean Race, following past stopovers in 2011-12, 2014-15, and the start of The Ocean Race Europe in 2021. In a groundbreaking move, teams will feature balanced crews of two men and two women, alongside a media crew member to capture live coverage and behind-the-scenes moments. Francesca Clapcich, skipper of Team Francesca Clapcich Powered by 11th Hour Racing, expressed her excitement, highlighting the personal connection of racing from the U.S. to France.
Teams will gather at Brooklyn Bridge Marina, engaging in local events before embarking on the approximate 3000 nautical mile journey, with expected finishes near Lorient on September 8-9. The Ocean Race emphasizes sustainability, collaborating with marine experts to ensure a safer route for marine life.
