Matador is set to return to the Pallas Capital Gold Cup, intensifying the rivalry in the series. After initial uncertainty, the reigning champion confirms its presence on the start line. Owner David Doherty reveals the team remains largely the same, with the boat recently undergoing maintenance and rig modifications aimed at boosting performance. “I came back because I couldn't sell the boat,” Doherty jokes, adding he’s eager for competitive racing. Challengers Zen and First Light are also in the mix, with Zen back from international competition and First Light gaining momentum from recent successes. The action kicks off with Act 1 on March 21-22 at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, featuring the TP52 and Super 40 fleets racing on Sydney Harbour. This year’s Pallas Capital Gold Cup promises to be one of the most fiercely contested in recent history.
