Giacomo Ferrari and Alessandra Dubbini lead the 2026 470 European Championships after the qualifying series wraps up. The top 25 teams advance to the Gold and Silver fleets starting tomorrow. Today’s racing faced tricky conditions with unstable winds shifting from the land. Martin Wrigley notes, “Really shifty, really gusty, made for quite hard racing.” Ferrari and Dubbini secured a race win, followed by a 10th place finish, maintaining a two-point advantage over Wrigley and Bettine Harris, who faced a UFD in their second race. Last year's champions, Jordi Xammar and Marta Cardona, sit in third after a second and a 21st place finish in their races. The competition intensifies as teams prepare for the new regatta format in the Gold Fleet, where qualifying scores become non-discardable. Three races are set for Wednesday, starting at 13:00 Portuguese time.
