Despite a slow start, Sosa has significant potential, having played every infield position throughout his five-year MLB career, primarily at second base. This season, he has a batting average of .212 in limited appearances, but holds a career average of .245 with 37 home runs in 315 games.
In exchange, the White Sox receive 18-year-old outfielder Jordan Rich, who was drafted in the 17th round of the 2025 MLB Draft and is yet to make his professional debut. To accommodate Sosa on the 40-man roster, the Blue Jays have placed pitcher Shane Bieber on the 60-day injured list. This strategic move could reshape the dynamics for both teams as the season progresses.
