Marc Marquez seizes the top spot in the opening practice session at the Hungarian Grand Prix, showcasing his potential despite ongoing recovery from shoulder surgery. This performance sets the stage for what could be a pivotal race at Balaton Park, possibly the last MotoGP event at this circuit.
Marquez, with a fastest lap of 1m38.626s, dominated the session, particularly excelling in the left-hand corners and chicanes. Future Ducati teammate Pedro Acosta initially led but ultimately finished third, trailing Marquez by 0.298 seconds. Raul Fernandez impressively slotted into second place, just 0.169 seconds off Marquez's pace, highlighting a competitive field.
The session features four Ducatis in the top six, with Fermin Aldeguer, Fabio Di Giannantonio, and Pecco Bagnaia also making strong showings. In contrast, injury replacements Iker Lecuona and Cal Crutchlow struggled, with Lecuona finishing two seconds behind the leader.
