Richard Childress faces a heartbreaking moment as he publicly addresses the death of Kyle Busch for the first time. This comes as Childress had hoped to announce a contract extension for the two-time Cup Series champion at Michigan International Speedway, but instead, he reflects on the loss of another great driver.

Kyle Busch passed away on May 21 due to complications from pneumonia, which led to sepsis. Childress, who previously endured the loss of Dale Earnhardt in 2001, feels the weight of this tragedy deeply. "You lose two of the greatest drivers that's ever driven a car in NASCAR," he states, revealing his profound sorrow for Busch's family and team.

Busch, 41, was in a contract year and recently expressed confidence about returning to the No. 8 Chevrolet next season, stating he believed he could make The Chase with the right cars. Following his death, Austin Hill has stepped in to drive Busch's car and will continue for the rest of the season.

Childress also safeguards the No. 8 for Busch's 11-year-old son, Brexton, emphasizing the bond they shared. He believes Busch deserves immediate induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame, underscoring his legacy as one of racing’s greatest drivers.
