Natalie J Triumphs in Challenging Bayview Mackinac Race

Out of 193 boats that commenced the race, only 105 managed to cross the finish line. Tragically, the Mockingbird, fresh from a victory at the Chicago Mac, had to retire due to equipment failure. Fortunately, all teams returned safely without serious injuries.

Their win capped off an impressive offshore season, including the Queens Cup and a strong performance in the Chicago to Mackinac race.
In contrast, Heartbreaker’s owner and skipper, Bob Hughes, shared his thoughts on the grueling conditions. He described the race as the toughest he had ever experienced across 39 Chicago and 20 Bayview races. "It featured classic GL52 boat-on-boat drag racing," Hughes noted, highlighting the tactical brilliance required to navigate such extreme circumstances.
