Stephen Curry is set to return to the Golden State Warriors lineup on Sunday against the Houston Rockets. After missing 27 games due to a persistent right knee issue, Curry has completed two successful scrimmages and is expected to receive official clearance. He initially left the game against the Detroit Pistons on January 30 due to pain and swelling.
Curry faced multiple setbacks while trying to increase his workload but has shown significant improvement in recent weeks. He will practice with the team on Saturday before making his comeback. The Warriors have struggled in Curry's absence, posting a 13-25 record without him, compared to 23-16 with him on the court. Currently, they sit in 10th place in the Western Conference and must navigate two play-in games in mid-April to secure a playoff spot as the eighth seed.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr emphasizes that Curry will need a "runway" of games to regain his rhythm before the crucial play-in games. With only five regular-season games remaining, Curry's return is a much-needed boost for the team as they aim to finish the season strong, despite the challenges they face, including the absence of co-star Jimmy Butler due to an ACL injury.
