Portland Trail Blazers' new owner Tom Dundon shifts the team's focus from youth development to winning. “It's time for bigger goals,” Dundon emphasizes, highlighting the need for habits that lead to success. The Blazers stand at 39-38, just half a game behind the eighth-place LA Clippers in the Western Conference. With a play-in spot already secured, Portland aims to climb into the eighth seed for a better shot at the playoffs.
Dundon, part of the "Rip City Rising" ownership group, took control following the NBA Board of Governors' approval of the $4.25 billion sale from Paul Allen's estate. This ownership group includes notable figures like Sheel Tyle, Marc Zahr, and the Cherng Family Trust. Alongside the Blazers, the acquisition covers the Rip City Remix in the G League and Rip City Management, which oversees the Moda Center.
Dundon, who recently sold a stake in the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes, expresses a willingness to make bold moves. He mentions a possible trade deal that could have made a splash at the deadline. “If the opportunity exists, I'm probably more aggressive than most,” he states. The Blazers are looking to build around young talents like Scoot Henderson and Deni Avdija as they pursue championship aspirations.
