A 1997 Kobe Bryant Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems Green card has shattered records, selling for an astonishing $3.15 million. This landmark purchase marks the highest price ever paid for a standalone Bryant card.

What follows puts the whole situation in context. The card's allure stems from its rarity; only ten green PMGs exist, with just three graded by Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA). The card in question holds a PSA 5 grade, and only one has received a higher rating.

Alt founder and CEO Leore Avidar emphasizes its significance, stating, "I'd argue this is the best Kobe Bryant card out there." The previous record for a solo Bryant card stood at $2.4 million, set privately in September 2025.

Alt has been active in the high-end card market, previously acquiring a one-of-one Stephen Curry Logoman rookie card for a total of $6.684 million. They've also made headlines with purchases of rare cards from LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Kevin Durant.

Avidar reveals that Alt aims to build a Hall of Fame collection, focusing on the next generation after Michael Jordan.
