Chicago Bears Pro Bowl center Drew Dalman retires after five seasons. The announcement comes from a source who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. Dalman, 27, solidified the offensive line after signing a $42 million, three-year deal last March. He played a pivotal role in the Bears’ NFC North title run at 11-6 and was the only player to participate in every offensive snap. The Bears also strengthened their line by trading for All-Pro left guard Joe Thuney and signing guard Jonah Jackson, while rookie Ozzy Trapilo emerged as the starting left tackle. With Dalman’s retirement and Trapilo likely out next season due to a torn patellar tendon, Chicago faces significant holes on the offensive line. The NFL’s free agent negotiating period starts Monday, with signings allowed from March 11. The Bears aim to build on a successful season under coach Ben Johnson.
