Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. focuses on recovery after being selected No. 8 in the 2024 NFL Draft. He started only 12 games over two seasons due to a partial ACL tear and competition with veteran Kirk Cousins. Falcons president of football Matt Ryan provides an update: “Michael is in a good place right now. He’s been in our building doing his rehab.” Ryan emphasizes the importance of fundamentals, highlighting the coaching staff's commitment to Penix's development. Penix posted 1,982 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and an 88.5 passer rating last season. In college, he averaged 4,772 passing yards and 33.5 touchdowns over two seasons at Washington, leading the Huskies to a Pac-12 title and a College Football Playoff appearance. Quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt, with experience from the Rams and Patriots, joins the Falcons to enhance Penix’s skills.
