PHARE 40 clinches the CIC Med Channel Race Trophy with a nail-biting finish ahead of STELLA NOVA, winning by just 10 minutes and 15 seconds. This thrilling victory comes after an intense race lasting 5 days, 23 hours, and 19 minutes, showcasing the strategic brilliance of Mathieu Claveau and François Verdier.
The Swiss duo, initially trailing, executed a crucial strategy shift during the final night, allowing them to overtake their rivals in the last miles. "Winning here, after such a hard-fought race, on this new boat, with such a committed duo... it has a very special flavor," Claveau stated upon arrival in Marseille.
STELLA NOVA finished in a strong second place, just 10 minutes behind, while RDT LOGISTIC - OCEAN CONNECT rounded out the podium, finishing 45 minutes after the winners.
The race proved the Mediterranean's unpredictability, with competitors navigating a challenging 1,000-mile course between Marseille, Corsica, Sardinia, and the Balearic Islands in under a week. AQUAMARIN placed 4th, followed by FLAMINGO ROSSO and LES AILES DE CHARLOTTE. The women's team, MER CONNEXION, also made their mark in their first Class40 race. As QWANZA continues to battle adverse conditions, the future of the CIC Med Channel Race looks promising, poised for growth in the offshore racing scene
