The Sixt 18ft skiff team of Jacob Marks, Alex Marinelli, and Matt Doyle delivers a standout performance in the 2025-26 season, clinching both the Season Point Score and Spring Championship. Stay tuned to discover how their journey reflects a remarkable rise in competitive sailing.
This young trio also secured 5th place in the Giltinan World Championship, 6th in the NSW State Championship, and 4th in the Club Championship. Their only setback was a disappointing 10th place at the Australian Championship due to gear failure.
Sailing together under the Sixt banner for two seasons, they previously raced The Oak Double Bay-4 Pines, winning the 2023 Spring Championship. Marinelli and Doyle have a history, having raced together in the 2022-23 season. Jacob Marks, once a 16-year-old student at The Scots College, made waves by becoming one of the youngest skippers in the century-old class.
Transitioning to the Sixt skiff in the 2024-25 season posed challenges, including late arrivals and a lack of practice time. However, their commitment paid off, showcasing a significant turnaround this season. Marinelli expressed satisfaction with their progress, stating, “We are really happy with how our third season together went.”
