Aurélien Pierroz joins the roster for the 2026 Congressional Cup, replacing nine-time Match Racing World Champion Ian Williams. Ranked fifth globally by World Sailing, Pierroz trails only fellow Frenchman Ian Garreta in the standings. He boasts impressive credentials, including two French Youth Match Racing titles in 2021 and 2022, and the Open French Match Racing Championship victory in 2023.
Pierroz also achieved a third-place finish at the 2025 WMRT Final in Shenzhen, showcasing his competitive edge. This marks Pierroz's debut at the Congressional Cup, but he is familiar with Long Beach and the renowned Catalina 37 fleet. He enters the event with momentum, having secured fourth place at last year’s Ficker Cup and sixth in 2024.
The Congressional Cup runs from April 29 to May 3, 2026, immediately following the Ficker Cup Grade 2 from April 24 to 26. The top two teams from the Ficker Cup will complete the Congressional Cup lineup. For more details, visit thecongressionalcup.com and wmrt.com.
