Alongside Mourinho, former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini and outgoing Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola are also on the shortlist.
However, reports from Football Insider suggest Howe is not facing immediate dismissal, as the board still supports him. The club acknowledges his achievements, including back-to-back Champions League qualifications and last season’s trophy win. Newcastle's management is reportedly planning for Howe's continued leadership, indicating he remains a respected figure within the hierarchy.
