His agent, Cameron Day, states, “Reports of his retirement are premature and incorrect,” confirming interest from various rugby circles. Foley’s impressive tenure in Japan culminated in a title win in 2023, and he remains a sought-after player, with the Waratahs and Queensland Reds reportedly interested in bringing him back.
O’Connor, nearing the end of his contract with Leicester Tigers, is also eyeing a return to Australia. He had a notable season at the Crusaders before joining Leicester and is in talks with the Reds and Waratahs. The prospect of playing in the Rugby World Cup on home soil adds to his motivation.
Additionally, forwards Izack Rodda and Lachlan Swinton are contemplating returns from their European clubs, Provence Rugby and Bordeaux Bègles, respectively. The influx of experienced players could significantly impact the Wallabies' strategy as they prepare for the crucial tournament.
