James O’Connor is set to depart Leicester Tigers at the end of the season, marking a significant shift for the PREM side. This development comes amid mounting speculation regarding his potential return to Australia or a move to South Africa’s Sharks next season.

The 35-year-old back joined Leicester from the Crusaders at the start of the current campaign and has made 10 appearances, including a standout role in their PREM Rugby Cup Final victory against Exeter Chiefs last month. O’Connor expressed gratitude to Tigers fans and teammates, emphasizing his focus on contributing to the team's ambitions this season.

Head coach Geoff Parling praised O’Connor’s leadership and influence within the squad, noting that while younger players have emerged, his impact remains significant, even extending to coaching responsibilities during the Prem Cup.

O’Connor is not alone in leaving Leicester, as fellow Wallaby Izaia Perese will also exit. Since joining last season, Perese has made 27 appearances and played a crucial role in the team’s successes. He thanked coaches, staff, and fans while committing to finishing the season strong. Parling acknowledged Perese's contributions, highlighting his impactful performances in key matches.
