The RS21 UK & IE Cup Round 2 at the Royal Southern Yacht Club delivers thrilling racing across diverse conditions from May 8-10, 2026. This event showcases the excitement of RS21 sailing, offering everything from flat-water glamour to challenging heavy weather.
Friday kicks off with Tiga Tiger (341), helmed by Tom Hewitson, dominating the opening day by winning both races in perfect 12-15 knot breezes. The day ends with a lively Harken UK Dock Party, allowing competitors to unwind after a fantastic start.
Saturday, however, presents a tactical nightmare with light, variable winds. Despite the challenges, race officers manage to complete three races. The evening barbecue fosters camaraderie among sailors, enhancing the May Regatta's festive atmosphere.
The final day ramps up the action, with winds hitting the low 20s knots, leading to an exhilarating conclusion as the RS21 fleet races alongside Cape 31s, J/70s, and IRC boats around Bramble Bank.
A highlight is the debut of Team Exhsail (Sail No. 290), owned by the Exleys, who impressively finish fourth overall in their first race. The event wraps up with a prize-giving ceremony, celebrating not only the competition but also the strong sense of community within the RS21 class.
