The Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe is set to feature an extraordinary lineup of sailing talent for its upcoming edition on November 1st. Here’s why this race could redefine ocean sailing history.
A total of 118 solo sailors, from seasoned pros to ambitious amateurs, are gearing up for a thrilling showdown in the world's premier solo ocean race. Among the heavyweights are Charles Caudrelier, Armel Le Cléac'h, and Thomas Coville, who promises an intense competition in the ULTIM class, where the defending champion, Caudrelier, returns with a new boat, Gitana 18. He faces tough contenders like Le Cléac'h, vying for a first-time victory, and Tom Laperche, making his solo debut.
In the IMOCA class, 26 skippers are lining up, including Jérémie Beyou and the rising star Goodchild, both looking to disrupt the established order. The race is not just about speed; it’s a test of resilience against the unpredictable ocean.
As spectators flock to Saint-Malo and Pointe-à-Pitre, the anticipation builds for another chapter in the Route du Rhum's storied legacy. With millions watching, this event continues to solidify its status as one of France’s most beloved sporting spectacles.
