Day 1 of the 2026 470 European Championships features intense racing in the 470 fleet. Italy’s Giacomo Ferrari and Alessandra Dubbini dominate the leaderboard after finishing with positions of 2nd, 1st, and 3rd. Early races see Portuguese teams in strong positions, with Diogo Costa and Carolina João claiming a decisive victory in the first race, while Beatriz Gago and Rodolfo Pires secure third in the white fleet. Changing conditions complicate the day, as winds exceed 15 knots, leading to a race abandonment due to a significant wind shift. “We managed the wind shifts well,” says Ferrari. British duo Martin Wrigley and Bettine Harris remain close in second, just one point behind, with France’s Matisse Pacaud and Lucie De Gennes tied for third.
