Renaud Stitelmann aboard "CAPUCINETTE" makes history by winning the McIntyre Mini Globe Race on March 7, 2026, achieving the fastest solo circumnavigation in an Alma Globe 580. Fifteen sailors, including two women, set off from Antigua on September 23, 2025, sailing home-built 19ft yachts. Eleven sailors complete the challenge, defying expectations. Jasmine Harrison is poised to become the first British woman to solo circumnavigate in the smallest yacht, while Pilar Pasanau claims the title of first Spanish woman to do so. Josh Kali aims for the record with the smallest American-flagged yacht. The race, inspired by John Guzzwell’s 1955 journey, secures its place on the international circuit, with a second edition planned for 2029 featuring over 25 committed sailors. The Alma Globe 580s demonstrate resilience, facing extreme Southern Ocean conditions without structural damage. Don McIntyre celebrates this momentous achievement for the sailing community.
